AdSense Accelerator is a big help and time saver for taking a current site and expanding it to target the best paying phrases. Using a current site for expansion has its advantages, mainly because you probably already have some traffic, and you can avoid the Google sandbox that many brand new sites encounter.
Plus if your site is already indexed in the search engines, building more relevant pages can get you even more potential traffic, if you can get the new pages spidered and indexed.
If you haven’t already looked at the short video Steve made on expanding your site using AsA, please look at Video #1 on this page:

We often get asked, "How do I make more money with AdSense when my site is based on a low paying keyword topic?" It’s possible! You may not be able to target the highest paying keywords like “conference calling,” but lesser paying keywords with decent traffic can make good money in AdSense, plus you won’t be trying to compete in a highly competitive area.
First of all, avoid the temptation to create pages based on keywords that are completely unrelated to your current site (just because the data says they are high paying). You will end up with a site that was obviously created for AdSense, and that will get very low cents per click in AdSense as a result.
Here’s a step by step to expanding your site pages using AdSense Accelerator.
1. Make a few notes to keep on track. If you know your topic well, write down related words or themes. For example, I have a recipe website. I can certainly target words with “recipe” in them, but also related words like food, diet, menus, cooking etc.
If you need ideas, go to a directory like Google Directory (based on DMOZ) and type in the main keyword for your site. Then look at the results, what other categories or words does Google list? Overture doesn’t work well because you will only get results that have the same word in them – not related words.
Also look at competing sites, and see what they target, and write down or bookmark the URL.
2. Open AdSense Accelerator and go to the Keyword Tool. Start with your main keyword in Enter Theme/URL, in my case it’s “recipes.” Click on Get Estimates.
3. Go to the Lateral tab. The keywords here are related keywords to the keyword you typed in. Some results will be closely related to your main topic keyword, and some results may look only slightly related. Highlight and select the keywords you want (you will also see their top bids), which adds them to Step 3 or the keyword basket.
4. In the Keyword Basket (Step 3), highlight a keyword that looks like a good related keyword candidate. This will activate the keys below the list of keywords. Select “Recycle.” What this does is take the keyword you highlighted and puts it back into Step 1. Click on “Get Estimates” and now you get a whole new group of keywords related to the recycled keyword. Keep recycling and soon you’ll have a nice list of related keywords with the highest bids related to your topic.
5. Once you create a group of keywords in Step 3 that you want, you can go to the Top AdSense Bids tool and copy/paste your keywords to see which keywords have good, stable looking bid prices.
6. One more option….You can also create a keyword list based on competitor sites. Instead of entering a keyword in the beginning, enter a URL and set Search Type pull down menu in Step 1 to Meta/URL, and hit Get Estimates. If the site you entered has keywords in the Metatags the results in the Keyword Tool will be based on them. It doesn’t work for every site (depends on their code and if they have metatags), but keep trying different URLs. This can be a great way to get more ideas for expanding your own site.
Enjoy!!
